Symptoms of Liver Disease & Disorders

A variety of conditions can contribute to the occurrence of cirrhosis, and the deterioration of the liver can lead to liver disease. Some of these include genetics, alcoholism, obesity, poor nutrition, Hepatitis (A, B and C) and an overload of iron.

Symptoms of Liver Disease May Include:

  • Weakness
  • Fatigue
  • Rapid Weight Loss
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Pale Stool
  • Swelling in Extremities or Abdomen
  • Right Upper Quadrant Abdominal Pain
  • and Yellow Discoloration of the Skin (Jaundice)

Early detection is critical when it comes to potential liver disease. Regular check-ups with your general practitioner are important; however, any suspicion of liver disease should be diagnosed and treated by a specialist. Because the liver plays a major role in maintaining standard bodily functions, it is critical that liver disease is either ruled out as a health condition or properly diagnosed and treated. The liver contributes to the production of protein and blood clotting as well as the metabolism of glucose, iron and cholesterol. Any disturbance in its ability to perform at its best could seriously affect other important bodily functions.
